Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri confirmed that there will be no negotiations before a ceasefire, stressing that the priority is to stop the war before any political path.
He explained that any negotiation that is not accompanied by clear guarantees to stop the aggression is rejected, considering that Israeli withdrawal is a basic condition before considering any settlement.
Berri rejected external pressure on the Lebanese decision, warning against rushing towards negotiations with uncertain results or offering free concessions in the negotiating file. He also warned of the danger of betting on uncertain promises regarding the south.
Regarding the international role, he pointed out that the United States is capable of stopping the war, calling for caution regarding its policies.
He concluded by asking: “Did we move from Anjar to Awkar?”
