Before noon on Monday, President of the Lebanese Republic, Joseph Aoun, made a telephone call to King Abdullah II of Jordan and discussed with him the situation in Lebanon and the region in light of current developments.
During the call, Aoun expressed "Lebanon's thanks for the solidarity shown by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, under the guidance of the Jordanian King, with the Lebanese people, especially through the aid that the Kingdom sent in successive convoys to alleviate the suffering of the Lebanese who were displaced from their villages and towns as a result of the ongoing Israeli attacks."
He considered that "the support that Jordan provided to Lebanon in several fields also reflects the deep-rooted relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, which the two countries are keen to strengthen in all fields," according to the Lebanese presidency statement.
In turn, King Abdullah II thanked Aoun for his affection, stressing that “Jordan has always stood by Lebanon and its people, especially at the current delicate stage, and its support for the steps that Lebanon is taking in order to achieve security and stability in it and restore its sovereignty over its entire territory.”
It was an occasion in which the ongoing contacts were evaluated to stabilize the ceasefire and find appropriate solutions in light of the Lebanese-American-Israeli negotiations in Washington.
The President of the Republic congratulated the Jordanian King on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, wishing him good health and wellness and the brotherly Jordanian people goodness and progress.
