UNIFIL expressed its deep concern about the recent escalation in southern Lebanon, and said in a statement that the continuation of the conflict is causing deaths, injuries and widespread destruction, which further undermines stability in the region. She added: Civilians are still the most affected by these conditions. Hundreds of thousands have been forced to leave their homes, often with little warning. Damage to homes, roads and basic infrastructure is also severely impacting daily life and recovery efforts. She stressed that peacekeepers continue to perform their duties on the ground, monitor the situation and report them to the Security Council. Wednesday witnessed the launching of about 670 projectiles, one of the highest rates recorded since April 17. UNIFIL confirmed that it will continue to work with the parties to help reduce tensions, and to remind them of their obligations under Resolution 1701.
