Fady Mahouly
President of the Republic Joseph Aoun received Prime Minister Nawaf Salam at Baabda Palace.
During the meeting, the general situation in the country and security developments in the south were presented in light of the continued Israeli attacks and their expansion to a number of southern cities and villages, especially in the districts of Tire and Nabatieh, in addition to the continued bombing and bulldozing of homes, and the destruction of historical monuments in the south.
The two parties also discussed the ongoing threats targeting safe people and the repeated calls for them to leave their homes and livelihoods. They agreed to intensify communications to put an end to these condemned Israeli practices.
The two presidents evaluated the meeting held in Washington between the Lebanese, American and Israeli military delegations and the deliberations that took place in it, in which the Lebanese side affirmed its adherence to the priority of the ceasefire. The discussion between the two presidents also discussed the ongoing preparations for the next round of negotiations on June 2 and 3.
During the meeting, the security situation in the country and the daily follow-up of the conditions of those forcibly displaced from their homes and property were also presented.
