The Lebanese Embassy in Washington announced that, as part of the efforts made by the Lebanese state to maintain stability and spare Lebanon from further escalation, and following the call that took place between the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the Lebanese authorities received confirmation of Hezbollah’s approval of the American proposal, which stipulates a mutual cessation of attacks. She said: Under the proposed arrangement, Israeli strikes on the southern suburb of Beirut would stop in exchange for Hezbollah refraining from carrying out attacks against Israel, provided that the ceasefire framework would be expanded to include the entire Lebanese territory. She indicated that President Donald Trump contacted Lebanon's Ambassador to the United States, Nada Moawad, and informed her that he had obtained Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's approval for the proposed arrangement. She announced that Ambassador Moawad conveyed the results of the discussions to President Aoun, who in turn informed Hezbollah of them. She confirmed that the negotiation meetings scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday will continue to discuss and build on this progress.
