Fady Mahouly
President Joseph Aoun expressed his condemnation and denunciation of the martyrdom of a member of the United Nations forces operating in the south (UNIFIL), and the injury of a number of his colleagues as a result of the attack that targeted an international forces site near Marjayoun.
President Aoun considered that the martyrdom of the international personnel in the south constitutes additional evidence that the world has not left Lebanon alone.
He also considered that these forces believe in their mission and in the necessity of establishing security, stability and peace in Lebanon and the region in general.
He praised the sacrifices made by UNIFIL in the south, which are combined with the sacrifices of the people, civilians, military personnel, and workers in the ambulance and relief fields.
President Aoun extended his deepest condolences to the Commander of UNIFIL, General Deodato Abagnaara, and to the family of the martyred soldier.
He wished the injured a speedy recovery.
