Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam confirmed today, Monday, that “since the start of the war imposed on Lebanon, the Lebanese government has been working to stop it and prevent further harm from Lebanon and the Lebanese.” He added, at the beginning of the Cabinet session held in the Serail: “Today, we hope that the announcement of a ceasefire, reached by the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, will succeed in putting an end to this war and stopping the killing, destruction, displacement, and all other tragedies and pains that have been inflicted on the Lebanese. I can only extend my sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to reaching this result.” He stressed, "We will redouble our efforts through the ongoing negotiations in Washington to secure the complete Israeli withdrawal from our lands and the release of our prisoners." He concluded: "Just as the government has worked to mobilize all energies in the past months to respond to the displacement crisis, and as we look forward to our people being able to return safely and with dignity as soon as possible to their cities and villages, we will intensify efforts with all brothers and friends to secure the requirements for reconstruction."
