Naeem Qassem thanks Iran: It gave everything to Lebanon for free
Fady Mahouly
The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem, sent a letter to the Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Shura Council, Mohammad Reza Qalibaf, in which he expressed his thanks for the Iranian positions in support of Lebanon, its people, and its resistance, considering that this support contributed to obliging the occupation to stop military operations on various fronts, including Lebanon, and linked this to stopping the war on Iran as a basic item in the understanding between Tehran and Washington.
Qassem said in his message that the Iranian position turned what he described as “the only effective glimmer of hope” to stop the Israeli-American aggression against Lebanon into a reality, considering that Iran has proven, in his words, that it is “a champion of truth, resistance, and the oppressed.” He added that other countries’ adoption of this approach would have prevented the continuation of American hegemony and the continuation of the occupation on Palestinian land and Jerusalem.
He stressed that the party has always considered that Iran provided support to the resistance and the Lebanese people without charge, explaining that this support included strengthening the resistance’s options and capabilities and contributing to supporting Lebanese society.
Qassem pointed out that Iran “also paid blood,” as he described it, by responding to the bombing of the southern suburb of Beirut by targeting the occupation, and bearing the consequences of that despite the risks of expanding the war, adding: “Iran is an icon of pride and honour.”
The Secretary-General of the party thanked Qalibaf and the Iranian negotiating team, on behalf of the party and the Lebanese people who support the resistance, as well as on behalf of the martyrs, the wounded, and the prisoners, and specifically mentioned Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
