The Iraqi national team opened its participation in the World Cup with a harsh 4-1 loss to the Norwegian national team, this Wednesday morning, in the first round of the eighth group of the group stage of the FIFA World Cup, currently being held in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Erling Haaland opened the scoring for Norway in the 29th minute, before Ayman Hussein equalized for the Iraqi team in the 39th minute, but the English Manchester City star scored again, scoring Norway's second goal in the 43rd minute.
Despite the Iraqi attempts to equalize, Thilo Asgard doubled the problems of the Mesopotamia Lions in the match, after scoring the third goal for the Norwegian team in the 76th minute.
Christian Thorsvedt ended the Norwegian goal festival by scoring the fourth goal in the sixth minute of stoppage time for the match, created by Haaland.
With this result, the Norway national team, which is participating in the World Cup for the fourth time in its history and the first since the 1998 World Cup in France, obtained the first three points in its career in the group, sharing the lead with the French national team, which is equal with them in the same score, after winning with the same score over its Senegalese counterpart earlier in the same round.
