Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rai received, this afternoon, in the Patriarchal edifice in Bkerke, Minister of Education Rima Karami, in the presence of the Patron of the Maronite Diocese of Tripoli, Bishop Youssef Suef. Developments related to the ministry and official examinations in the current situation were presented, and it was an occasion during which Karami thanked Patriarch Al-Rahi for his interest in educational affairs. After the meeting, Karami said: “Today I was honored by His Excellency’s visit to thank him for his constant interest in educational files and for informing him of the files I am working on and the situation of the ministry in general. It was also an opportunity to clarify some points regarding the ministry and the administration in the Ministry of Education, especially in light of the campaign that included rumors and distortion of facts. I explained to His Beatitude all the matters that he was concerned about in this area.” She pointed out that "the Ministry is performing its role to the fullest in this directorate phase." In response to a question about the dispute with Director General Fadi Yarak, Karami denied all these rumours, stressing that “the Director General is doing his job perfectly,” and also denied “any marginalization affecting him.” As for the fate of the official exams, Karami pointed out that she “visited President Berri yesterday,” considering that we are in “a pivotal week with regional developments, and it seems that they are heading in the right way, provided that we issue a final, consensual decision at the beginning of next week that includes everyone and responds to the various requests.” Al-Rahi also received the Director General of the Ministry of Education, Fadi Yaraq, and then the Patron of the Maronite Diocese of Australia, Bishop Antoine Charbel Tarabay.
