The Egyptian national team defeated the New Zealand national team by three goals to one, in a match held at BC Place Stadium, on Monday, in the second round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup. The goals of the “Pharaohs” team were scored by Mustafa “Zico”, Mohamed Salah and Mahmoud “Trezeguet” in the 59th, 67th and 82nd minutes, while Finn Surman scored the only goal for the New Zealand team in the 15th minute. This is the first victory for the Egyptian team in the World Cup throughout history, as it has never achieved any victory while participating in 3 editions. It is also considered the second victory for the Arab teams in the current edition, after the Moroccan team defeated Scotland by a goal. The Pharaohs team topped the Group Seven standings with 4 points, while the New Zealand team stagnated at one point in last place.
