The Rapporteur of the Parliamentary Education Committee, MP Edgar Trabelsi, announced that the government is moving to cancel the official secondary exams, in light of the Ministry of Education not being logistically prepared to conduct them on any date, as he put it, as a result of what he described as a lack of planning and the adoption of inappropriate options, in addition to ignoring the recommendation of the Parliamentary Education Committee to hold the exams on July 15, allowing sufficient time for preparation. In an interview with “Voice of All Lebanon,” Trabelsi indicated that the Minister of Defense will explain in today’s government session the reasons for not being able to guarantee the security of students during exams. He said that the option of elective exams is illegal and subject to challenge and cancellation, revealing ideas being put forward such as opening free applications for those who do not have an academic sequence, or holding exams exclusively for those who fail in their schools, but he ruled out going in these directions, likely moving towards the cancellation decision, followed by the approval of school certificates. Regarding the project to develop educational curricula, Trabelsi believed that the Minister of Education exceeded the principles and neglected educational inspection, stressing that the Education Committee will request that the project be put on the table to review it and ensure that it is modern and appropriate for the country.
