Officially... there are no official exams and testimonies are subject to conditions

Today, Thursday, the Council of Ministers decided the file of official exams for the academic year 2025-2026, announcing that students would be exempted from taking official exams and granting them success certificates according to specific conditions.
The Minister of Education and Higher Education, Rima Karami, announced, during the Cabinet session, the approval of success reports for students registered for official exams, based on the results of the school evaluation, provided that the student’s average is no less than 9.5 out of 20.
Karami explained that the decision came in light of the security and military authorities’ confirmation of their inability, under the current circumstances, to provide the necessary guarantees to conduct exams in a safe and fair manner that ensures equal opportunities for all students.
In response to the criticism, Karami said: “What I do not accept is for the educational debate to turn into personalization and insult,” stressing that the Ministry of Education’s decision “was not built on slogans, but rather on data and facts based on what the security authorities deem appropriate in the current circumstances.”
