On the eve of the Ashura commemoration, President Joseph Aoun extended his condolences and sympathy to the Lebanese in general and to the members of the Shiite community in particular, stressing that the unity of the Lebanese ranks and the solidarity of its people constitute the strongest weapon in the face of challenges. Aoun said, at the beginning of the cabinet session, that the current stage requires strengthening national cohesion and joint action to maintain stability and face future entitlements. He stressed the need to follow up on the conditions of the displaced in shelter centers, and to immediately begin counting the damage resulting from the recent aggression that affected housing, infrastructure, and the agricultural and service sectors, allowing the relevant ministries to prepare for international support conferences for reconstruction. He called for stimulating competencies and developing public administration by completing the procedures for promoting third-category employees to the second category, and launching the necessary preparatory courses for them. He also pointed out that the stability resulting from the ceasefire would encourage the return of expatriates and expatriates during the summer, which requires the relevant ministries to raise the level of preparedness to keep pace with the expected tourist movement.
