Salam: We will not leave the south alone
Fady Mahouly
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam affirmed that the government will not leave the people of the south alone to face the repercussions of the war, stressing the harnessing of all available capabilities to accompany their dignified return to their towns and ensure the implementation of recovery plans.
Salam’s words came while he was chairing an expanded preparatory meeting in the government palace devoted to discussing reconstruction steps, with the participation of a number of relevant ministers and officials.
Salam called on the relevant departments to expedite surveying the damage, removing rubble, opening roads, and reconnecting the electricity and communications networks, in a way that contributes to facilitating the return of people to the affected areas.
He also announced work to employ the funds allocated within the LEAP program and the appropriations available to the Higher Relief Commission and the Southern Council to launch urgent initiatives that support the resilience of the population and accelerate the pace of recovery.
