A draw determines the qualification of Japan and Sweden to the round of 32

The Japanese and Swedish teams qualified for the round of 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, after they tied 1-1, in the match that brought them together today in the third and final round of Group Six competitions.
The first half ended in a goalless draw, before the Japanese team opened the scoring through Daizen Maeda in the 56th minute, while Anthony Elanga equalized for the Swedish team in the 62nd minute, ending the match with the two teams sharing the points of the match.
The Japanese team raised its score to five points, occupying second place in Group F, behind the leading Dutch team with seven points, and booking a direct qualification ticket to the round of 32.
In the next round, the Japanese national team will meet its Brazilian counterpart, the leader of Group C, next Monday at Houston Stadium in the United States of America, in the second confrontation between the two teams in the history of the World Cup, after their meeting in the 2006 edition in Germany, which ended with a 4-1 victory for Brazil.
On the other hand, the Swedish team finished the group stage in third place with four points, ensuring passage to the round of 32 among the eight best third-placed teams, while the Tunisian team exited the tournament after finishing bottom of the group standings with no points.
