The Single Criminal Judge in Matn, Rana Habaqa, issued a ruling convicting Giovanni Al-Raidi of the misdemeanors stipulated in Articles 582, 584, 386, and 317 of the Penal Code, in the lawsuit that had been filed by the “Free Patriotic Movement,” represented by its president, Representative Gebran Bassil, against Al-Raidi. The ruling fined Al-Raidi an amount of fifty million liras, in addition to obligating him to pay an amount of two hundred and fifty million liras to the “Free Patriotic Movement” as compensation and damages. For its part, the Free Patriotic Movement considered that this ruling, within a series of lawsuits related to what it described as “slanders,” constitutes confirmation that the truth will remain clear no matter how some try to distort it with false news.
