Historic qualification for Cape Verde...and Saudi Arabia bids farewell to the World Cup
Fady Mahouly
Saudi Arabia tied 0-0 with Cape Verde today, Saturday, in Houston, at the conclusion of its campaign in Group H of the FIFA World Cup, so that the African team, participating for the first time in the finals, secured a ticket to the round of 32 in the tournament.
Both teams were unable to score throughout the two halves of the match, after their players competed in wasting all the opportunities they had throughout the 90 minutes, with each team getting one point.
With that result, Cape Verde's balance rose to 3 points in second place in the group standings, setting a date in the round of 32 with Argentina (the defending champion), who secured the top spot in the tenth group standings, on the third of next July, in Miami.
On the other hand, the Saudi national team remained in fourth place with two points, officially bidding farewell to the competition.
