Katz: The agreement with Lebanon is a historic event
Fady Mahouly
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that the agreement signed yesterday with the United States and Lebanon is a historical event and an important political and security achievement that reflects what the Israeli forces achieved in the south, and would change the security reality and create a safer reality on the northern border.
He also considered it a strategic strike against Iran, confirming that Lebanon's future will no longer be decided by Tehran or Hezbollah.
Katz stressed that the security zone in southern Lebanon will remain completely devoid of residents and Hezbollah’s infrastructure, stressing that the Israeli army will not withdraw from Lebanese territory, including the Beaufort Heights.
He pointed out that the redeployment will not take place before the party is disarmed throughout the country, with Israel adhering to freedom of military action to thwart any threat to its soldiers or the residents of its northern towns.
Katz threatened to respond to the Islamic Republic of Iran by warning Iran of the consequences of attacking forcefully if it attacks Israel, to demonstrate the power gap between the two parties.
He pointed out that the real test lies in implementing the agreement, amid expectations of facing many challenges in the implementation phase.
