The President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, received a phone call this night from US President Donald Trump in which he congratulated him on the signing of the framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel under the auspices of the United States of America, stressing that his country stands by Lebanon and the Lebanese people and is working to provide everything necessary to implement the provisions of the agreement to restore security and stability to Lebanon. President Trump affirmed that the United States wishes the Lebanese people well and progress and will spare no effort to support Lebanon’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, extend state authority with its armed forces over all Lebanese territory, stop any threat to Lebanon’s stability, and support the positions of the President of the Republic and the decisions of the government, stressing that the United States will contribute to supporting the Lebanese economy and legitimate security forces, so that Lebanon can regain its leadership role in its surroundings and the world.  President Aoun thanked President Trump for his position in support of Lebanon, its legitimate authority, and its constitutional and security institutions, especially the army, pointing out that the Lebanese state will bear its responsibilities in implementing the framework agreement, hoping that the United States will contribute to preventing any violation of this agreement and ensuring the fulfillment of all the obligations that were agreed upon, especially pressuring Israel to withdraw from the lands it occupies in the south to facilitate the deployment of the army to the international border.  At the end of the call, President Trump indicated that he would meet soon with President Aoun in Washington.
