Today, Tuesday, the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, received at Baabda Palace MPs Waddah Al-Sadiq and Mark Daou, where the general situation in the country and the current political and security developments were presented.
Representative Wadah Al-Sadiq said, after the meeting, that Lebanon “is going through a historic time and is fighting the most important battle to restore sovereignty and stability,” noting that he was briefed by the President of the Republic on “the framework agreement that was reached in Washington.”
He added: The Lebanese "face a clear choice, which is to stand by the state and its institutions or to remain within the axes that brought devastation to Lebanon," stressing "the necessity of supporting the Lebanese army within the framework of the 'Pilot Zone' implementation."
In turn, Representative Mark Daou stressed that “the unity of the state behind an independent national option enhances Lebanon’s ability to negotiate away from any regional negotiations in which Lebanon is not present at the table.”
He stressed that "the main reliance is on the army institution," expressing his full confidence in it, and considering that "the security situation is stable."
He expressed his hope that “House Speaker Nabih Berri and all political forces will stand by the state and its official institutions,” considering that “Lebanon has an important opportunity.”
