New price for a loaf of bread... How much did it cost?
Fady Mahouly
The Minister of Economy and Trade, Amer Al-Bassat, issued a decision to reduce the price of a loaf of white Lebanese bread by 5,000 Lebanese pounds.
Pursuant to the decision, the price of a medium-sized loaf of bread in bakery halls for consumers throughout the Lebanese territory decreased to 70,000 Lebanese pounds (instead of 75,000 Lebanese pounds), while the price of a small loaf of bread in ovens for consumers decreased to 45,000 Lebanese pounds (instead of 50,000 Lebanese pounds).
This decision is accompanied by the intensification of the Ministry of Economy and Trade’s monitoring campaigns through the Consumer Protection Directorate, with the aim of controlling any violations of the new prices and ensuring that ovens adhere to the specified prices.
