Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid Al-Ansari announced on Monday that Washington envoys Steve Witkopf and Jared Kushner are currently in Doha to meet with mediators and discuss negotiations, while there is no high-level meeting scheduled with Iran. He stressed that the Iranian funds frozen in Qatar, amounting to $6 billion, “have not been transferred to Tehran yet, and are subject to an agreement in 2023,” noting that they are “allocated for the purchase of humanitarian goods.” Al-Ansari added, "A direct line of communication was used to calm tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and contain confrontations during the past few days." He explained: “We are coordinating with the Sultanate of Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz and the safe passage of ships.”
