President of the Republic Joseph Aoun confirmed that there is no truth to the rumors about a desire to dismiss the army commander and the leaders of the security services, stressing that their role is essential in maintaining security and extending state sovereignty. Aoun said, while receiving delegations from the Beirut and North Bar Associations and economic bodies, that the framework formula that emerged from the Washington negotiations fulfills the logic of the state through the provisions it included, noting that it preserves Lebanon’s rights judicially and on the ground, stressing that there will be no surrender or waiver of rights. The President of the Republic stressed the right of the people of the South of various sects to live in safety, and not to pay a heavy price in terms of killing, destruction, and displacement from time to time. At the conclusion of the meeting, Aoun praised the position of Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, stressing that everyone agreed that sedition and harming the army were unacceptable.
