Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqir Qalibaf announced that his country will not allow the United States to interfere in the affairs of the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that Tehran will continue to implement its policies related to regulating navigation in the strategic sea lane. He explained that Iran reached an agreement with the Sultanate of Oman regarding the mechanism for regulating navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, based on the fifth clause of a memorandum of understanding between the two sides, indicating that work on this mechanism continues, with consultation with the countries overlooking the territorial waters in the region. In a related context, the Iranian official accused Israeli parties of seeking to thwart the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States, as he put it. He also stressed that Iran's deterrent capabilities in the region will prevent any attempt to resume the war by the Israeli side, stressing at the same time that his country is continuing to enhance the stability of maritime navigation in accordance with what was agreed upon. The Iranian Parliament Speaker called on the various Lebanese components to work to implement what he described as the Lebanon-specific clause in the memorandum of understanding, considering that it contributes to preventing strife and enhancing stability.
