Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree said: “This Friday morning, a formation of Saudi enemy warplanes violated the airspace of the Yemeni governorates as part of its attempt to prevent an Iranian civilian plane carrying more than 200 stranded, wounded and sick citizens from landing at Sanaa airport.” Sarie pointed out that Saudi aircraft were confronted by “targeting them with a number of air defense missiles, and forcing them to leave Yemeni airspace.” He considered that the attempt to prevent the landing “failed,” and warned Saudi Arabia that “repeated attempts to violate the airspace will be met with a comprehensive response by targeting its airports and vital interests on land and at sea.” The Houthi-run Al-Masirah Channel reported earlier that the plane was able to land, and then carried to Tehran the Houthi delegation participating in the funeral ceremony of Ali Khamenei, the Iranian guide who was assassinated in US-Israeli strikes in February.
