The General Directorate of State Security - Department of Information, Guidance and Public Relations issued the following statement: “As part of the ongoing efforts to combat forgery crimes, and based on information available to the Northern Regional Directorate about a person forging official documents, and as a result of the follow-up, it was found that the Syrian (N.B.) registered his two children with his wife in the name of his Lebanese brother-in-law (M.Q.), with his knowledge and approval, with the intention of enabling them to obtain Lebanese identity and nationality. As a result of the investigation, it was found that the two children were officially registered under the name (M.Q.) and had Lebanese registration and ID cards. Based on the signal of the Public Appeal Attorney on duty in the North, both (N.B.) and (M.Q.) were arrested and taken to the competent judicial authority.”
