US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has requested a meeting at the White House, indicating that the meeting may take place early next week.
Trump stressed that his relationship with Netanyahu is “very good,” adding that the Israeli prime minister “understands who the leader is.”
In an interview with Axios, Trump said that the United States and Iran agreed to suspend talks between them for a week, due to the funeral ceremony of Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, pointing out that “neither party will shoot the other during the funeral period.”
Trump added: “I am watching Khamenei’s funeral ceremony, and we can eliminate everyone, but there will be no one left to negotiate with.”
He continued, saying, "I was surprised to see Iranians crying at Khamenei's funeral, as I thought they hated him."
