France set a date with Morocco in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup in football, after defeating stubborn Paraguay 1-0, with a penalty kick from its top scorer, Kylian Mbappe (70), on Saturday in Philadelphia.
The Spanish Real Madrid striker raised his tally to seven goals in the tournament, equaling the top scorers' rankings with Argentine Lionel Messi, and also reduced the gap with the latter on the list of all-time World Cup scorers (20 to 19).
Morocco continued its successful journey in the tournament by defeating Canada, one of the three host countries of the 2026 World Cup, by 3-0, earlier Saturday in Houston.
