The Syrian News Agency quoted the Syrian Ministry of Interior as saying that 18 people, including 4 policemen, were injured as a result of the explosion of a number of explosive devices near the Ministry of Tourism. She indicated that Internal Security detected the two explosive devices and they exploded during the dismantling process. The Syrian Interior Ministry said that the two explosive devices were primitive. The first was placed inside a car on the side of the road, and the second was inside a trash container. She pointed out that the explosion occurred outside the security zone designated for the French President’s residence and did not pose any direct threat. The Syrian Interior confirmed that the French President's visit will continue according to the planned plan. A security source previously reported to Reuters that a group of explosive devices exploded near a hotel where Macron was staying in Damascus. The Elysee indicated that Macron did not hear any explosions while heading to meet the Syrian President at the People's Palace in Damascus.
