US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he was extremely frustrated with Iran's leaders, describing them as "deranged", and threatened to launch a new round of military strikes tonight, after a wave of strikes last night, expressing doubts about the possibility of reaching an agreement. Trump added, during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara: “We hit them very hard last night, and it is very likely that we will hit them hard again tonight. The bullies of the Middle East, they are no longer like that.” He said the United States would destroy Iran's power and water plants, if necessary, "but I don't want to." He added: "We may seize Kharg Island." He pointed out that the US army destroyed 28 Iranian boats last night, and added: “We may destroy more boats tonight.” The US President threatened to re-impose the naval blockade on Iran, and threatened to launch a "major attack." He doubted the possibility of reaching an agreement, saying: “If we reach an agreement with Iran, I am not sure they will adhere to it.” He continued: "We attacked Kharg Island last night. We destroyed part of it. I told the army: Do not target the oil, because we may seize Kharg Island." “The memorandum of understanding has expired.” Trump's statements came hours after he announced that the ceasefire between the United States and Iran had "ended", in the wake of Iranian attacks on commercial ships near the Strait of Hormuz, although he indicated that he would allow negotiations to continue. Trump accused Iranian leaders of constantly misleading him, saying that during the negotiation sessions they seemed open to reaching a peace agreement, but then retracted their positions later. He added: "They agree to everything, then they go to hold a press conference and say we never talked about it. They are deranged. There is something abnormal about these people." Trump indicated that he was "not satisfied" with the Iranian regime, saying he was considering carrying out further strikes, perhaps later on Wednesday evening. He said: “We may hit them hard tonight, but we will see how things go.”
