A diplomatic source told Agence France-Presse on Wednesday that Lebanon had stipulated Israel’s withdrawal from two experimental areas to participate in the Rome negotiations. The sources pointed out that Lebanon returned and agreed to attend the Rome negotiations after its concerns were dissipated, and the American side guaranteed its attendance and sponsorship of the round of discussions, which means that it will not only be bilateral between Lebanon and Israel, but rather trilateral, under American sponsorship. In turn, a Lebanese source told Al-Hadath: There is great American pressure on Lebanon to go to the round of negotiations in Rome, indicating that American-Lebanese negotiations are currently focused on conditions required by Beirut.
