The US Department of Justice said in a statement yesterday, Thursday, that a federal grand jury issued an indictment against eight men on charges of planning an attack on a mixed martial arts event at the White House in June. The FBI indicated  that it had thwarted a planned attack on the White House event last month. The eight men, aged between 19 and 32, were charged with two counts in an indictment issued in Columbus, Ohio, where the first arrest was made. The Ministry of Justice announced that the remaining defendants had also been arrested since then, noting that the indictment charged them all with two charges: “conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists and conspiracy to commit murder on federal government territory and to kill a federal government official.”  The Justice Department said the defendants planned to assassinate President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, US officials, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, billionaire Elon Musk, and “other targets of high importance” during the event.
