On Tuesday morning, the UAE Ministry of Defense condemned the Iranian attack that targeted the national oil tankers “Mombasa” and “Al Bahia” after they were hit by two cruise missiles while they were passing through the southern corridor of the Strait of Hormuz, within Omani territorial waters. It announced in a statement that the attack resulted in the death of an Indian person and the injury of eight others, including four serious injuries. The UAE Interior extended its condolences and sympathy to the victim’s family and the Republic of India and its people, and its wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured. It stressed that the attack represents a flagrant violation of Security Council Resolution No. 2817, which stressed freedom of navigation and the refusal to target commercial ships or disrupt international sea lanes.
