Fady Mahouly
The President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, sent a cable of congratulations to the French President, Emmanuel Macron, on the occasion of France’s National Day, stressing that the principles embodied in the commemoration of July 14 in France find a special resonance in Lebanon, a country whose history was shaped within the framework of an ongoing dialogue with France, based on a long-standing friendship and exceptional human rapprochement.
In his telegram, Aoun praised the efforts made by France, led by President Macron, to help Lebanon, and the pursuit of achieving a just and lasting peace based on dialogue, and permanent adherence to Lebanon’s security, considering it evidence of the depth of friendship that brings together the two countries.
He said that July 14 is not just a national occasion, but rather an embodiment of France's adherence to the ideals of freedom, equality and fraternity, which are lofty human values that continue to inspire peoples and nations yearning for dignity, justice and peace. These principles find a special resonance in Lebanon, a country whose history was shaped within the framework of an ongoing dialogue with France, based on a long-standing friendship, exceptional human rapprochement, and a firm unity in values and principles.
He added: Your positions in support of Lebanon, whether on the political, diplomatic, humanitarian or economic levels, have reflected your firm conviction that Lebanon, with its rich diversity, constitutes an essential element in the stability and balance of the Middle East region. You have succeeded in mobilizing the support of the international community, encouraging efforts to advance our nation, and tirelessly defending its independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and constitutional institutions.
