President Joseph Aoun affirmed that “the framework formula is the best possible, and it has begun to have its effects,” noting that “Washington is now listening to Lebanon,” pointing out that “the Lebanon file is on the American president’s table.”
Aoun said, before a delegation from the “Orthodox Meeting,” that “our goals are clear and we will not be lenient regarding Lebanon’s rights,” adding that “difference is a legitimate right, but dialogue between the Lebanese must be under the umbrella of the national interest, not to give priority to personal interests.”
He added: “Hatred does not build a state or institutions, but rather destroys, and the Lebanese must choose what will save their country and protect it from the ambitions of others.”
He considered that “the road is not paved and faces difficulties, but there is great hope for achieving results that end the bloodbath.”
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Orthodox Gathering, former MP Marwan Abu Fadel, expressed his support for the positions of the President of the Republic and his steps aimed at getting Lebanon out of its crisis, considering that “harming the position of the presidency is a violation of the dignity of the nation.”
In turn, Representative Simon Abi Ramia stressed, after his meeting with President Aoun, that “restoring sovereignty requires extending the authority of the legitimate Lebanese state alone over its entire territory,” stressing his support for the positions of the President of the Republic aimed at achieving complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory, the safe return of the people of the south to their villages, the release of prisoners, and the reconstruction of what was destroyed by the aggression.
