Karami: We cry out to the conscience of the world to stop the destruction of schools
Fady Mahouly
The Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Rima Karami, indicated in a statement, “We are in a week of grief and grief for both official and private educational institutions. The Israeli enemy outdid itself and completely destroyed three schools when it mines a school and an official high school in tents in one building rented by the Council of the South. It was a private school to house the students of the official school and high school that Israel targeted earlier, and added to them Al Mahdi Secondary School in Bint Habil, where the Israeli army advanced.” They plundered the contents of these institutions and then rigged them with explosives, making them a pile of ashes and adding them to the list of destroyed schools and martyrs.”
She said: "All of this is being done under the eyes of the whole world and in light of the United Nations International Charter, which considers schools to be among the safest and most protected institutions to which the population resorts in times of crises, wars, floods, and calamities," considering that "expressions of denunciation and denunciation are no longer sufficient to express pain and sadness regarding the aggression that is occurring."
She added: "We call on the consciences of the world and call on the major powers to put pressure to stop demolition and destruction, and to neutralize educational monuments from conflicts and wars."
