Rifi: To turn what happened in the last session into a new starting point
Fady Mahouly
Representative Ashraf Rifi announced on his account on
He said: It is time to remove this file from the circle of political investment and bidding, as it is not an issue of a group or group, but rather an issue of justice, dignity and human rights, noting that the suffering of oppressed prisoners and their families must not remain hostage to narrow calculations, after long years of waiting and injustice.
We understand the motives of those who attended the session and those who boycotted it, but what happened must be a final stage of separation, because the stage requires unity of position, not distraction, and joint action away from scoring points or exchanging accusations.
Experience has proven that division only serves those who want to keep this file open, and that any real progress can only be achieved through complete coordination among Sunni representatives, and cooperation with every political, parliamentary, or human rights force that believes in this issue and seeks to transform the situation into practical, legislative, and legal steps.
Our criterion is not political affiliation, but rather the sincerity of the position and the willingness to bear responsibility. Hence, we call for opening a new page based on trust and integration, and launching a coordination framework that brings together representatives, jurists, and relevant actors to develop a unified political, legal, and media strategy that ensures continued pressure to reach a just and final solution.
The Islamic detainees and convicts, the oppressed prisoners and their families have paid a heavy price for their lives and stability, and it is no longer acceptable for this reality to continue.
Standing by justice is a national and moral responsibility, while those who obstruct or delay the solution bear their responsibility before the Lebanese and history.
Our responsibility today is to unite and not divide, and to cooperate and not quarrel, because just causes are not won by slogans, but rather by unity of ranks, solidity of stance, and good management of the battle until its goals are achieved.
Based on this conviction, we call on all concerned to turn what happened in the last session into a new starting point, not a station of division, and to work together to end this file in a way that achieves justice and fairness.”
