Rodri wins the Ballon d'Or in the 2026 World Cup

Spanish national team star Rodri won the Best Player award in the 2026 World Cup, after his country won over Argentina (1-0) following the extended final that brought them together at MetLife Stadium near New York.
Rodri participated in 8 matches mainly, and in the final match, the 30-year-old player participated in 99 minutes.
Argentine star Lionel Messi came in second place, and French striker Kylian Mbappe came third.
Rodri became the first Spanish player to win this award, as David Villa was the third best player in the 2010 edition.
Spanish national team goalkeeper Unai Simon and fellow defender Pau Cobarci (19 years old) also won the awards for best goalkeeper and best young player in the tournament, respectively.
While the Golden Boot award went to Kylian Mbappé, who topped the list of top scorers at the 2026 World Cup with 10 goals.
