Representative Najat Aoun said that the meeting between President Joseph Aoun and US President Donald Trump constitutes “an affirmation of and support for Lebanese sovereignty,” noting that the call between President Aoun and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reflects the support of the President of the Republic. Aoun pointed out, in a radio interview, that the meeting expected today comes as “the culmination of the efforts that began with direct negotiations leading to the framework agreement,” considering that it will contribute to pressuring Israel to withdraw from the experimental areas, and put Lebanon on the right track. She stressed that "the disarmament of Hezbollah is a Lebanese demand before it is an external demand," calling for everyone to adhere to the law and for the Lebanese army to be the only body defending Lebanese territory. She added, "The world has come to realize that what is required is not to pit the army against Hezbollah," noting that there are diplomatic efforts to pressure Israel to withdraw from Lebanese territory, as well as to pressure Iran to stop its interference in Lebanon. Aoun stressed that the consensus around the President of the Republic strengthens Lebanon's position, considering that his meeting with the American President constitutes an important step in the path of defending Lebanon's sovereignty and the rights of the Lebanese.
