The Ministry of Economy and Trade in Lebanon issued a decision amending the price of a loaf of white Lebanese bread, so that the price of a medium-sized loaf in bakery halls became 75,000 Lebanese pounds, an increase of 5,000 liras.
The Ministry stressed that while it understands the negative impact of this decision on the consumer, it stresses that it falls within the framework of maintaining the continuity of bread production in a way that reflects the cost of production and securing this vital material in the markets.
It stressed that it will reconsider prices and reduce them as soon as the cost decreases, as it did previously according to the same mechanism.
The Ministry's Consumer Protection Directorate continues its monitoring campaigns on markets and bakeries to ensure adherence to the official price, and to control any violations, in a way that maintains market order and protects the rights of consumers, according to the Ministry's statement.
