US President Donald Trump confirmed that Iran "will pay a heavy price" if it targets American soldiers, stressing that Washington will not allow Tehran to possess a nuclear weapon. He said: “Americans are not against wars themselves, but rather against their repercussions, especially the rise in energy prices,” pointing out that any Iranian targeting of ships in the Strait of Hormuz will be met with a direct response. Trump added that his country "will bomb and destroy bridges or power plants, including inside Iran or near Tehran," if any ship is attacked. On the other hand, Tasnim Agency quoted an Iranian military source as saying that Tehran will respond by targeting infrastructure in the region linked to the United States, if Washington launches strikes on facilities inside Iran.
