Lebanese Forces: We support the Sunni-agreed amnesty law
Fady Mahouly
The media department of the “Lebanese Forces” party confirmed that the position of party leader Samir Geagea is clear in supporting the general amnesty law, which is approved by the Sunni majority, denying what it described as attempts to distort facts and distort positions.
The “Forces” explained that representatives of the Sunni majority met with the Prime Minister and agreed on amendments that would achieve the desired goal of the law, indicating that they were quick to support these amendments.
She stressed that Geagea called on Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri to call for a parliamentary session dedicated to approving the amnesty law, stressing support for any formula that contributes to alleviating injustice and reducing penalties in a fair and consistent manner with legislative and legal frameworks.
The media department accused some representatives of trying to pass a partial version of the amnesty law that does not enjoy the approval of various Sunni representatives, considering that its aim is to serve political interests, and called for the adoption of a comprehensive general amnesty law that achieves its desired goals.
