A 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck southern Japan on Tuesday, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency, which issued a tsunami warning. The intensity of the earthquake reached the seventh degree, which is the highest on the Japanese Shindo earthquake scale, according to the agency. The authority supervising the nuclear sector in Japan announced that no abnormalities have been recorded so far in nuclear facilities after the 7.1-magnitude earthquake that struck the southwest of the country on Tuesday. The local Kyushu Electricity Company reported that the three nuclear reactors in the area continue to operate normally. Japanese official television reported that at least fifty people were transferred to hospitals following the severe earthquake that struck the southwest of the country on Tuesday. It was also reported that 12 houses collapsed, including four people still trapped under the rubble.
