Aoun discusses with the Governor of the Bank of Lebanon the repayment of deposits and reforms... and stresses the exclusivity of Palestinian weapons

The President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, received at Baabda Palace the Governor of the Bank of Lebanon, Karim Saeed, where he reviewed the monetary and financial conditions in the country.
The meeting discussed the Bank of Lebanon’s continued implementation of mechanisms for repaying deposits to depositors, in accordance with the effective circulars, in line with the approach adopted to protect the rights of depositors within the existing legal and regulatory frameworks.
Saeed also briefed President Aoun on the progress made in the path of financial and banking reforms, especially the draft bank restructuring law, which is expected to be discussed and approved in the relevant parliamentary committees early next week, in preparation for its final approval in the General Assembly of the House of Representatives.
In a related context, President Aoun was presented with the progress in the work of the Ministry of Administrative Development, especially the launch of the “Dawlaty” platform, in addition to a number of reform initiatives within the path of “Restructuring State Administrations 2030.”
The World Bank loan project worth $150 million, which was referred to the House of Representatives, was also discussed, which aims to support digital transformation, accelerate the development of public services, and enhance efficiency and transparency in administration.
The meeting also discussed visits to southern Lebanon with a number of ambassadors, within the framework of confirming the state’s presence alongside the citizens, learning about their needs, and supporting recovery and reconstruction, in addition to informing the international community of the extent of the damage and the importance of supporting Lebanon in the path of liberation, reconstruction, and the return of the displaced.
On the other hand, President Aoun presented the situation of the Palestinians in Lebanon during his meeting with the Special Representative of Palestinian President Yasser Abbas, stressing the importance of the Palestinian side’s commitment to the arms exclusivity decision, cooperation with the security services, and implementation of the decisions of the Council of Ministers in this framework.
