The Ministry of Health confirmed that it is providing full hospital coverage for the injured person in the Beirut Port explosion, Lara Hayek, who has been suffering from a persistent coma, since she was injured in the explosion in 2020.
She indicated in a statement that Minister Rakan Nasser Al-Din signed last year the entire 2025 cost dues submitted by the treating hospital, and he will renew his signature this year when the hospital’s cost for the year 2026 is transferred to the Ministry.
The statement issued by the Ministry of Public Health expressed surprise at the false and offensive information being circulated regarding the Ministry’s failure to ensure continuity of coverage, stressing that the approach followed does not distinguish between one sick citizen and another, and the matter is proven by tangible actions.
The statement added that based on the directives of Minister Dr. Rakan Nasser Al-Din, all surgeries related to explosion injuries that the wounded need are fully covered by 100 percent at the Ministry’s expense.
