The Information Division arrested a number of the most prominent defendants accused of drug crimes and money laundering, including J. D. Nicknamed “Junior”, he is classified as one of the most prominent drug barons in Australia and on the “regulatory priority targets” (APOT) list of Australian law enforcement agencies. According to private sources for the MTV website, the Information Division carried out the operation with a judicial reference, based on an international arrest warrant issued by the Australian judiciary through Interpol. The sources explained that the memorandum was issued after a number of members of the network were arrested and investigated in Australia, against the backdrop of their involvement in drug smuggling into Australian territory from countries in South America and South Asia. The sources revealed that the detainees fled to Lebanon more than three years ago, after the network’s activity was exposed in Australia, noting that the drugs that were smuggled within the network’s activity were cocaine. The operation comes within the framework of pursuing an international network suspected of involvement in drug smuggling and money laundering, in coordination with international judicial and security authorities.
