Israeli media reported, citing a senior American official, that the Iranian missile that fell in Lebanon was directed towards another country, likely Cyprus, before it disintegrated in the air and its parts fell in the Beirut area.
In the same context, the Axios website quoted a similar account from an American official, noting that the missile was not targeting Lebanon directly.
On the other hand, a Lebanese security source told Reuters that a foreign ship intercepted the missile over Lebanese airspace.
Preliminary information suggested that the missile that fell over the Keserwan area was targeting the American embassy, and that it was intercepted from the Hamat base.
These data reflect conflicting accounts regarding the missile's trajectory and actual target
