According to the Washington Post, Trump climbed in front of the cameras onto an old Air Force One Boeing 747 plane at Ankara Airport, before he was secretly transferred inside a supply truck to a smaller C-32A military plane, which was parked nearby. The military plane took off with Trump to an American base in Britain, while the old presidential plane continued its journey with journalists, officials and White House employees on board, appearing to be carrying the president. Some members of Trump's team were not aware of his move to the replacement plane. Reports indicated that the operation was carried out as a camouflage measure with the aim of confusing any party that might target the presidential plane, while the new plane provided by Qatar was transferred to Britain separately, before Trump used it to continue his trip to the United States. The incident raised questions about the defensive equipment of the new Qatari plane, after reports indicated that the old presidential plane may be equipped with systems to protect itself from anti-aircraft missiles, while not all of the protection systems in the new plane have been completed.
