Italian police announced on Thursday that a number of people were killed and injured as a result of a huge explosion inside an ammunition and explosives factory near the capital, Rome. Agence France-Presse, citing members of the Italian Gendarmerie, reported that the explosion occurred in an ammunition factory in the Italian town of Collefero, located about 40 kilometers southeast of Rome. ANSA indicated that the factory belongs to the German defense group KNDS and produces medium and large-caliber ammunition intended for land and sea defense.
